Sustaining Momentum for Audience Impact at The Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center

Client: The Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center at Vassar College | Location: Poughkeepsie, NY

We partnered with The Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center to collaboratively create an Impact Plan to help the museum assert its distinct vision within its position at Vassar College.

OVERVIEW

We partnered with The Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center across the entire organization—including representatives and colleagues from their parent organization, Vassar College—to create an impact-driven strategy to develop a shared vision for their audiences and their future.

Two years after the development of the strategy we facilitated two workshops with the Loeb to revisit the plan, introduce it to new staff, and gather feedback from a new advisory team.

APPROACH

We led a collaborative, impact-driven strategic process that resulted in an Impact Framework articulating the intended results of the museum’s work on target audiences and a three-year Impact Plan that outlined the strategic goals and actions necessary for the museum to achieve its intended impact.

The process was highly collaborative, involving staff members at  the Loeb, Vassar college students,  faculty and staff from the college, and a few other relevant stakeholders from the Hudson Valley region. To be responsive to change over time, we presented and discussed the strategy with new staff and advisors two years later.

CLIENT TAKEAWAYS

Loeb staff and stakeholders benefited greatly from the exercises embedded in our process to help them define their impact, particularly an exercise exploring their individual passions. This exercise helped all involved set their deepest intentions around the museum’s ultimate purpose and strengthened their resolve to place their audiences at the center of their work and decision-making.

Our resulting three-year Impact Plan provided a balance of structure and flexibility to focus the Loeb’s resources and energies around important strategic goals, like a move toward more digital offerings, a DEAI commitment, and better communication within and outside the organization, toward the ultimate goal of making a positive difference in their audiences’ lives.
